Peter K. Webster, aged 85 and Rosalie L. Webster, aged 81 of Cherry Valley California passed away within 48 hours of each other with Pete passing January 29th, 2021 and Rosalie following him on the 30th.
Peter (Pete) Koempel Webster was born in Southern California and was a proud "desert rat" who grew up in and around the wilderness of Newberry Springs. Rosalie Lorraine (nee Marquez) was born and raised in Winslow, Arizona and spent time in St. Joseph's Boarding School in Prescott, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico before moving to San Bernardino as a young woman.
Pete was the youngest child of James and Carol Webster, and the grandson of Dr. George Max Webster, superintendent of the Patton State Mental Hospital in San Bernardino California from the 1920's to the 1940's. Pete is survived by his brother Jimmy and sister Joan.
Rosalie was the oldest of 3 and the only daughter of Refugio "Cuco (RH)" and Amalia Marquez. RH worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and he was lost to lung cancer when Rosalie was 10 years old. Rosalie was proceeded in death by her brother Refugio (also RH) and was followed in death by her brother Ernie.
Pete joined the US Air Force after he graduated from high school and served in communications as a cryptographer. After a tour overseas, he came back to the states and met Rosalie at Norton Airforce Base in San Bernardino. They were married on August 15th, 1959 in San Bernardino, California.
Shortly after they were married, Pete got a job with IBM and they moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut. But Rosalie missed her large extended family and they soon moved back to Southern California for good. Pete worked for IBM for many years before getting a job as a systems analyst for Riverside County. Rosalie was a full-time mom and occasional substitute teacher, teaching primarily ESL students.
Pete and Rosalie were active members in the Catholic Church their entire lives and were involved in many prayer groups. They were renowned for their positive fun-loving energy and unflinching faithfulness. In their retirement years they travelled and enjoyed cruises and various pilgrimages throughout the world in between visiting their children and
grandchildren around United States and Canada. After suffering health issues and Rosalie's stroke 2013, they remained active in local prayer groups, family functions and festivities. They lived for visitors from family and friends and perked up when anyone came by...including healthcare workers!
In addition to Pete's siblings, Pete and Rosalie are survived by their four children, John (Lisa), Mark (Sara), Matt (Karen) and Alycia (Mike), and their grandchildren, Caitlyn, Bryana, Cory, Marquez, Amalia, Keaton, Killion, Erica, Luke and Simon, as well as their great grandchildren, Harper, Ophelia, Sawyer and Seraphina.
A private Catholic Mass and internment at Riverside National Cemetery will be held on Monday March 22nd. A live streaming of the event will be available via Facebook. To access the streaming, please log onto Facebook and search for Pete and Rosalie Webster Memorial Page.
