Robert Malcolm Walker
May 9, 1942 - May 14, 2026
Robert Walker was born in Santa Monica, CA. He received his M.F.A. in painting and sculpture from the University of California, Irvine in 1971.
In 1975, Robert was included in the exhibit, "The Irvine Milleau", at the La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art. His art career took off from there. For decades, Robert exhibited his art and sculpture nationally and internationally. He created mixed media work influenced by Eastern philosophies and Buddhism. He appeared in countless publications and received many awards. Robert's enduring commitment to the growth of the Los Angeles Art community was seen through his lengthy participation with LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) and LA Artcore. In 1986, he founded a program for homeless artists in Los Angeles and in 1988 he pioneered a program for artists with HIV/AIDS.
Over his long career as an artist, arts advocate and as a Professor of Art History at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Robert inspired and changed many lives. His last residence with his art studio and his beautifully designed garden was in Redlands, CA, where he moved to be close to family, his sister Kim Togashi and her children Tori and Trevor Togashi. He will be missed by many who loved and admired him.
