Obituary

On 7/8/21 at 12:50 am Richard Ramos passed away following profound complications 17 days after a receiving the gift of life in the form of a liver transplant. It was his hope that transplantation would extend his life and restore his quality of life. It was amazing to watch Richard come to life within hours of his transplant. He was not only physically better almost immediately, he was transformed emotionally & spiritually. He was indeed a 'changed man'. He was a strong proponent of liver transplantation and even lobbied Congress in 2018 - to help patients receive transplants before they were critically ill. He would not have changed a thing, believing it was his higher purpose to help others through his own experiences. He was the most incredibly kind, gentle, and thoughtful human. He was an incredible, husband, father and grandfather. Richard made a difference in countless lives by pursuing his passion of advocating for education and treatment around liver disease, assisting with the Loma Linda Liver Support Group, by sharing his infectious smile & always enthusiastically accepting opportunities to be of service to others.
Richard was born on 11/23/1959 to Irene Lujan in San Bernardino, CA. He spent his childhood and early adulthood in Redlands, CA before enlisting in the United States Army where he received training to become a radar technician. He spent 3 years in the Army honing his craft and maintained his technical skill and expertise for the rest of his life. He married Tricia on 11-29-1997 in Las Vegas Nevada, eagerly and enthusiastically stepping into the role of stepfather to Amanda. The wedding was attended by a multitude of family and friends. Although he owned his own landscaping business, he desired to ensure more stability for his new family and became a Union Carpenter in 1998 – specializing in commercial concrete tilt up buildings. He continued to work until 2015 when he had to medically retire due to the complications of advanced liver disease.
He is forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband to Tricia, a doting and adoring father and grandfather to Amanda and Scarlett, a cherished member of his community, a mentor, and a man of service. His kindness, his gentle spirit, his laugh and his smile will be remembered by all. Richard never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Lujan; Stepfather, Albert Lujan; Birth Father, Joseph Humildad and younger brother, Albert Lujan. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 24 years, Tricia Ramos; his daughter, Amanda Stevens; his granddaughter, (the apple of his eye) Scarlett Graham; his brother, Mike (Debbie) Ramos; his brother, Aaron Lujan; his sister, Joanna (Ray) Calderon; his sister, Martha (Dennis) Forrester; his sister Rachel (Tim) Brock; his Uncle Jaime (Rena) Ramos; his Aunt Toni Paramo; his Uncle Santos Ramos as well as countless nieces and nephews and extended family.
