Lynn Ruth Vogel, 77, of Lake Elsinore, CA, passed away on February 2, 2017 at the LLUMC of Murrieta. After surviving twelve years on dialysis with declining health, she finally succumbed to a perforated colon.
Born in Laramie, Wyoming, she was the daughter of Russell C. Purintun and Enid Q.Purintun. Lynn Graduated from University Prep, Laramie Wyoming in 1957. She graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Wyoming. Lynn worked as a nurse at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City Utah for many years after graduation. She then continued her studies and received her Masters in Nursing Education from the University of Washington in 1967. Lynn moved to California to get her Nurse Practitioners License at UCLA where she later taught nursing at both UCLA and California State University San Bernardino. It was during this time she met her husband Michael C. Vogel and they moved to Moreno Valley (then Sunnymead). She later became a nurse for the Moreno Valley Unified School District which allowed her to be home more with her children. Lynn Retired from school nursing in 2004.
Lynn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was very faithful in her callings. She enjoyed sewing, making porcelain dolls, reading, playing the piano at church, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She always excelled in her academics and often spoke of the value and importance of education. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her brother Bill Purinton of Logan, Utah, her two daughters, Tricia Metz and husband Mark Metz, of Oceanside, CA, and Christine Simpson and husband Trevor Simpson of Lake Elsinore, CA; three grandsons-Carter Simpson, Preston Simpson, and Levi Metz.
