John I. Lee, age 79, resident of Riverside, California, passed away on May 24th, 2026 at Kaiser Permanente Riverside with his wife, children, and granddaughter at his side. John was born in Grangeville, Idaho on July 3rd, 1946. He served in the National Guard in Idaho beginning August 1965 until March 1967, the US Navy March 1967 until March 1969 where he was stationed in Kingsville, Texas, which was followed by his time in the Navy Reserves from June 1969 until October 1971 where he was stationed in Los Alamitos, California. John met his wife, Antonia in Kingsville, Texas and they married on January 27th, 1968 and were married for 58 years until John’s passing. John worked in the tire industry for 50 years. He worked at Daniel's Tire Service, TCI Benlin Tire, Goslin Tire, and at lastly at Parkhouse Tire until his retirement. John was an avid bowler and had 44 years of participation in California state bowling tournaments. He bowled in leagues at Town Square Lanes, Active West - La Sierra, Arrowhead Lanes, Tava Lanes, Riverside Lanes, and Arlington Lanes. John was active in the bowling community. He was a member and volunteer with Citrus Belt USBC and USBC Safe Sport, a budget/finance and operations/legislation committee member for Arlington Lanes, and a director and representative in 2014. John was also a fan of NASCAR, college football, and the Dallas Cowboys. John is survived by his wife Antonia Lee; daughter Michele R. Lee; son John P. Lee; sister, Alita Heitsuman of Culdasac, Idaho; brothers Robert E. Lee and L. Daniel Lee of Kooskia, Idaho; granddaughter Miranda K. Lee; and great-grandsons Jace E. Tupou and Sionemisi J. Tupou. He was preceded in death by brother Charles “Mike” Lee; father Leonard “Windy” Lee; and mother C. Virginia Lee.
His celebration of life will be at Preston and Simons Mortuary on Tuesday, June 30th from 11-1:45pm, and interment will be following at 2:30pm at Riverside National Cemetery.
