Obituary

On January 24, 2020, David S. Peters, passed away peacefully in Palm Springs, California. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday with his family.
Dave was born January 10, 1930 in Bloomingdale, New Jersey to
Rev. Charles B. and Clara A. (Mathieson) Peters.
On June 22, 1949, he married Ida (Idee) Mae Davidson of Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
Dave & Idee moved to the West Coast in 1954. They raised two sons,
David II., Stephen, and a daughter Susan.
Dave always had a great passion for music and sports having played football on the 1947 & 1948 undefeated Tyrone Golden Eagles team with his brother John, and played trombone for Fred Waring and his Canteen Dance Band during WWII.
Dave attended both Northwest Bible College in Minneapolis, and graduated from Evangel Bible College in Springfield, Mo.
He spent most of his early adult life in gospel music with his wife Idee,
singing, directing and was church Music Director and Associate Pastor in
Turlock, Sacramento, North Hollywood, Portland, and Denver.
In the 70's, he entered the recording industry in Hollywood producing, and distributing Gospel and Country albums for various artists including Stars from the Lawrence Welk Show, B.J. Thomas and Terry Bradshaw. A highlight of his career was accepting a Grammy Award from motion film composer legend Henry Mancini.
An avid lifelong fisherman and all sports fan, Dave was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and was known for his bright blue eyes, infectious smile and kind spirit. He will be dearly missed.
Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Johnathan, his former wife Idee, and his daughter, Susan.
He is survived by his sons David (wife Kristine) and Stephen, his seven grandchildren, Geoffrey, Alyson, Hayley, Elliot, Jeremie, Luke and Natalie, and great-granddaughter, Elianna, along with several cousins, and his nieces and nephews living in Tyrone, and Oak Ridge Tennessee.
Dave will be laid to rest at the Logan Valley Cemetery in Bellwood, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, make all donations to Hands Together-A Center for Children Santa Ana, Ca. or online at www.handstogether-sa.org
