Cora Hernandez, 85, departed this life on November 30, 2014 in Redlands. She was born July 5th, 1929 in San Bernardino, California to Felipe and Concepcion Espino.
During her life Cora loved attending, playing and coaching local softball and baseball games. She spent much of her time on the fields and was known as the crazy mom that would jump, yell, scream and cheer. She especially enjoyed playing for the "Little Angles" women's softball team.
She was an avid gardener and absolutely loved collecting and caring for plants. There wasn't anything she couldn't grown if she set her mind to it. In fact, someone once told her she couldn't grow banannas, and sure enough she ended up growing a small bannana tree. Later in life she loved taking care of animals, big and small. One of her favorite animals was Hercules, a one-eyed pomeranian. One of her greatest acomplishments in life was being a Nana. Two of her favorite restaurants to dine at were Taco Joe's and Mi Cocina.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Pedro and her daughter, Carol. She will be forever missed by her 9 children: Maureen Martinez of Highland, CA; Luisa Gallego of Oceanside, Ca; David (Vanessa) Hernandez of Highland, CA; Ben (Kelly) Hernandez of Highland, CA; Elizabeth (Howard) Kranson of Henderson, NV; Anna Hernandez of Highlands, CA; Gabriel Hernandez of Highland, CA and Joshua Hernandez of Highland, CA, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Redlands Church of Christ, 1000 Roosevelt Rd, Redlands, CA.
