Obituary

In loving memory of Carol Anne Hasty

December 28, 1942 - July 27, 2023

Carol Anne Hasty, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend, and dog
mom, passed away peacefully on July 27th. Our loss is heaven's gain and we could hear the
rejoicing from here, as she was escorted into heaven by Her Savior, Jesus.

Born December 28th, 1942, to Frank and Sonya O'Keefe, in Connecticut, she spent her early
years in New York City. She then headed west to California to raise her two children, Ed and
Kathy. It was there that she met the love of her life, James Hasty. Jim and Carol married on
September 15th, 1979. Their beautiful love story took place over the next almost 43 years.
Marrying Jim blessed Carol with four more children: Pat, Jim (Buddy), Peggy and Bonnie. Carol
and Jim soon welcomed into their family a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren to
spoil and enjoy.

Carol was a generous, kind and joyful woman who overcame the many challenges life threw at
her, with a smile on her face and determination in her heart. She was strong, resilient, and
fiercely devoted to her family and friends. She knew how to laugh at the absurdity of life and at
herself, when the situation arose. And she had an uncanny knack at remembering the
important details in the lives of those she loved; their favorite things, their stories and their
special days. Carol never met a stranger. She treated others as if they were the most important
person in the world. And she listened… really listened to people… not only with her ears, but
with her heart. She always knew the right words to say whether it was wisdom about how to
handle things or simply understanding and empathy for what you were going through.

Carol delighted in a lifetime of travel - especially going on RV trips, cruises and an annual trip to
the Colorado River. She even recently explored Hawaii, "like a local," in January. She liked to
crochet and craft. Her loved ones were often the benefactors of her efforts; matching 4th of July
t-shirts, blankets and knit caps, even jar openers. We treasure these "hand-made with love"
items, recognizing the time and love Carol put into them for us.

Carol cheerfully celebrated holidays - ALL the holidays. She sent cards. She hosted
celebrations and filled her home with the family she adored, until it was bursting at the seams.
In her final days, her front door was a revolving one. The many visitors clamoring to bring her
food, hold her hand, hear her voice, are a testimony to a life well-lived.

Most of all, Carol loved Our Lord. She was an active member of Calimesa Worship Center.
She prayed with and for her family. And she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, she was going
to heaven. Her last wish for us was that we all join her there, at our appointed times.
Carol's Celebration of Life will be held at Calimesa Worship Center in Yucaipa, CA on
Saturday, August 5th at 11:00. Reception to follow service.

Carol is survived by her husband, Jim, her son, Ed, her daughter, Kathy and stepdaughters,
Peggy and Bonnie. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol's legacy also includes; nieces, nephews, daughters in law, sons - in law, and beloved
friend
