Obituary

Benjamin Allen Jones, 80, of San Bernardino California, Passed away February 12, 2021. Born in Chicago Illinois, now known as Brownville, On May 31, 1940, he was the son of Benjamin Allen Jones Sr., a Pullman Porter on The Santa Fe Railroad, and Ms. Sernora Dawkins,a beautician. He was proceeded in death by his sisters, Ethel Singleton,Elouise Brown, and Erma Dorsey. Benjamin grew up in Chicago Illinois and attended a local Roman Catholic Elementary school. He later attended Wendell High School where he was the star quarterback for the football team. Upon graduating high
school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps "Ooh Rah" and served his country honorably for over twenty years. Ben "Sarge" Jones was a dedicated Marine through and through. Sarge demonstrated the Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment in everything he did. He was always dependable, led by example, and inspired others to achieve a spirit of excellence in all their endeavors. After retiring from the military he embarked on a second career as a California State Law Enforcement Officer for both Exposition Park and the Department of Mental Health. He was a dedicated patrolman and proudly served his community well for twenty plus years. Benjamin was an avid sports fan who loved his hometown Chicago teams; "Go Bears." He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling, watching television, and spending time with his family and close friends. He was reconditioned for twenty one years of outstanding services in law enforcement, nineteen years with the state of California, Exposition
Park Department of Public Safety. Sarge will always be remembered as a defender in life and in death. Benjamin is survived by his Son Benjamin Anthony Jones of Victorville, California, Daughter Kimmeri Allyn Jones-Huff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
