Anthony "Tony" Durwood Gonzales, age 58, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Loma Linda Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. He was born in Houston on January 17, 1965. His father is Guadalupe "Sonny" Gonzales II, and his mother is Hattie Irene Hopkins Ray. They all lived in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Steven F. Austin High School, also in Houston, Texas. After graduating, he worked various odd jobs and traveled– he was a bartender, a firefighter, a body guard, a house painter, a server, among a plethora more. He married Rebekah, and had three children: Baby Tony, Joshua, and Nana. He, shortly after, joined the US Navy to provide for his children. After his discharge from the Navy, he moved back to Houston, and eventually to Riverside, California, where he pursued a career in computer science. After working for fourteen years in the computer science industry, he went back to school for nursing and remained in the medical field until his health declined.

He lived a full life– he enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, drinking coffee, and traveling. His idea of a perfect day was to wake up early, drive to the beach, be the first person on the pier (this was mandatory to get a good spot), set up his rods, and drink coffee while he waited for fish to bite. He is survived by his children. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm (PST) at Redlands United Chapel on December 1st, 2023.
