Nancy Jane Neely
January 11, 1939 - June 21, 2021
Nancy Jane Neely of Beaumont, CA entered heaven on June 21, 2021. Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She always had a smile to share and encouragement to offer, whether it be a meal she made for someone, a note she wrote, a phone call or prayers offered. Nancy was thoughtful and kind and lived her life seeking to love and know God and to share His love with those around her. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and mentor to so many. She brought love into this world and now is surrounded by God’s love for all eternity. Nancy was born on Jan 11, 1939 to Clyde and Helen Stratton of Port Jervis, NY. She graduated from Port Jervis High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. She ran well-baby clinics and did visiting nursing for the city of Bethlehem, PA for 3 years. Seeking a change, Nancy moved to California in 1960. She continued her nursing career working for two oral surgeons in Pasadena before meeting her husband, Richard Neely (Dick) who was stationed at Edwards AFB. They married in 1965. When Dick took a position with TRW in 1968 they relocated to Rialto, CA. For the next 16 years, Nancy invested her love and energy into raising her 3 children. She was very active in the PTA, enjoyed bowling, square dancing, Bible Study Fellowship, camping and time with her family. In 1985 the Neely family moved to Yucaipa, CA and enjoyed the community and friendships they made during the 9 years they lived there. During this time, Nancy was active with her church, Yucaipa First Baptist, and she accepted a job as a hospice nurse at Redlands Community Hospital. The 5 years she spent as a part of the hospice team were some of the most rewarding years of her life. Her loving compassion endeared her to her patients, but a change in her husband’s position at work led to a move to Ogden Utah in 1994. It didn’t take long for Nancy to get involved in a local church, Washington Heights Baptist Church, leading bible studies to women in her home. Lifelong friendships were formed, fun trips were taken and many memories were made during the 13 years spent in Utah. After her husband’s retirement in 2002 and the birth of her 1st grandchild, she and Dick decided to move back to CA to be closer to their kids and grandkids. They settled in Beaumont, CA and quickly became active in Fellowship Church, which has been so supportive during Nancy’s illness. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Neely, her three children, son David Neely of Rancho Mirage, CA, son Andrew Neely and wife Lori of Austin, TX, and daughter Amy Carpenter, husband Matt and three grandchildren, Mitchell, Christine and Robert Carpenter of Yucaipa, CA. Her surviving siblings include: Mary Gregory of Mukilteo, WA, Sarah Gerle and husband Fred of Port Jervis, NY, Fred Stratton and wife Jean of Wurtsboro, NY, Susan Curtis and husband Joe of Port Jervis, NY, her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Fellowship Church in Beaumont, CA on Saturday, July 3rd at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, consider donating blood to your local blood bank if you are able or make a donation to a charity of your choice in remembrance of Nancy.
