Obituary

Russell H. Henk died unexpectedly January 20, 2015 while vacationing in California with his wife and family. He was 81 years old. Born in Pittsburgh on March 25, 1933 , he was the son of the late Henry Henk and Emma (Morgenstern) Henk. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and took advantage of the G.I. Bill to attend Pittsburgh University where he graduated with a business degree in marketing in 1959.

Russ was first employed as purchasing agent at E.G. Smith in Pittsburgh. In 1972 Russ accepted an executive position with Fabral Corporation based in Lancaster, PA. where he held various managerial positions before retiring as president in 2000. During the years with Fabral, Russ was an integral part in the creation of additional Fabral plants in Oklahoma, Illinois, Utah, Wisconsin and Georgia.

Russ was also very involved in the Metal Construction Association, created in 1984. He served as director/board member, president (1993-96) and president emeritus. Russ was a member of the MCA team which created Metalcon, a trade show for educating professionals about the use of metal in construction. Metalcon has become the largest international event dedicated to this purpose.

A generous man with a great sense of humor, Russ was always deeply involved with the churches and communities in which he lived, tirelessly serving when called upon. He was a committed Pittsburgh sports fan throughout his life and enjoyed meeting Steeler fans in his international travels. Russ will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a trusted and loyal friend, and a man of action and integrity.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Cynthia Glass Henk, of Georgetown, DE; his daughter Tracey and partner Kathy of Grapevine, TX; son David and wife Tamara of Southlake, TX; son Jordan and wife Tatyana of Mentone, CA; sister Lois Marcin and husband Phil of Marianna, PA; sister Barbara and husband David of Placitas, NM. Also two stepchildren- Angela Davis and husband Bonner of Annville, PA; and Andrew Glass of Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren, and many cousins, great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Georgetown, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Ronald McDonald House (1902 Rockland Rd, Wilmington DE 19847) or St. Paul's Episcopal Church Outreach Programs (PO Box 602, Georgetown DE 19947).
