Robert Bob" Raymond Poole, of Redlands, was born July 19,1939 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Alton and Ruth Poole. He left us on March 24,2014 in Loma Linda, California.
Robert graduated from San Bernardino High School and went onto receive a Bachelor's of Science degree from Pomona College (where he was on the track and field team), a Master's in Mathematics from UCR, and did graduate work with Claremont College and USC. His professional career included working for NASA for a few years, then as mathematics professor at the University of Redlands for 26 years. After retiring, he spent his days working in his and Pat's garden growing his prized boysenberries, peaches and more, regularly selling produce and flowers at the Market Night in Redlands.
He was a member of First Congregational Church in Redlands,Ca. He loved Trivial Pursuit, hiking, crossword puzzles, farming, boogie boarding and making seal impersonations at the beach – and will be remembered for so many things, including his dry sense of humor and big hugs.
We were blessed with a few more years with Bob, because ofhis heart transplant 8 ½ years ago. Thanks to his donor, he was able to spend more time with his wife and those he loved, enjoy life, and meet four great-grandchildren.
He will be forever missed by his wife of over 53 years,Patricia (Wittich) Poole; his children: Wendy (Poole) Walder, Robert BrucePoole and Timothy Alton Poole; brother Dennis Poole (Bob was preceded in death by his brother Gene Alton Poole); as well as his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
