Polla Natika Roy

Polla Natika Roy, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Pomona California, Friday October 23, 2020. Her loving husband Samuel and children were by her side. Polla was born on March 25, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to parents Roberta Inez (Williams) of California and David Crockett Cooper of Louisiana. Her parents preceded her in death. She is one of six children; sister Tanya, and four brothers, Albert and Ronald, living and Anthony and William who both preceded her in death. Growing up in Hollywood, Polla graduated from Our Lady of Loretta Catholic High School and then attended Trade Technical College and West Los Angeles College where she received her AA degree. Polla began working for the County of Los Angeles in 1965 until 1980. She then transferred to Pomona Unified School District in 1980, where she worked at Pomona High School as an instructional aide until she retired in 2010. It was a short time after her move to Pomona that she and beloved husband Samuel Roy Jr. were married on August 13, 1981 in what became their hometown, Pomona. She is a member of St. Madeleine’s Catholic Church in Pomona and active in the Pomona Valley community. Polla had 2 children, Anthony Jackson and Lisa Harvey, prior to meeting Sam. She and Samuel went on to have a beautiful family full of children and love. Their children; Samuel Roy III, Karyn Roy, and Christina Roy. Their Grandchildren; Shadai, Kalen, Armonee, Aalani, Cassidy, Ashani, Anthony Jr., Cristiano, Kayden (heaven’s angel) and Gianna, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Polla loved to travel. She’s visited Alaska, multiple destinations in Mexico as well as California. She preferred cruising because the casino could be within walking distance to her room. Polla loved to volunteer at her children’s schools (St. Bernadette, St. Madeline, Pomona Catholic and Damien). She was a prominent figure on all campuses where she shared her love and opened her heart to many of the other mothers. Polla also loved to shop and to clean, both with equal passion. She has one of everything and they are neatly organized and labeled in their particular place and she will know if anyone has touched one. Polla also loved coffee, Cheetos, steak and baked potatoes, candy apples, popcorn, Gucci, purple, dinner, plants (not flowers), gold, word searches, James Patterson, “Fall from Grace”, Midnight Train to Georgia, reading, cooking...Polla was deeply loved and she will be dearly missed. The world has lost a beautiful person, but Heaven has received a beautiful angel.
