Dr. Earbin Cottrell Stanciell

Earbin Cottrell Stanciell was born May 12, 1956 to Glenn (from Houston, TX) and Alice Gill Stanciell(from Leigh, TX) in Los Angeles, CA. He was the eldest child of this marriage. Five years following this union, Miss Alice eventually re-married Richard Singleton July 27, in 1960 in Fort Worth, TX and from that union Earbin was blessed with four additional siblings: Donald Kerry , Richard Darryl, Cheryl Denise and Brenda Carol. Spending many of his younger days in East Texas, he tells many childhood stories of his beloved grandma and her amazing cooking--- especially of cakes. He said her cakes were so fluffy they melted in your mouth! “Oohwee! She could cook!” On the other hand, as he and his siblings spent most of their summers in East Texas, he often was told by his grandfather Frank to go fetch the mail on a horse riding bareback (barely being able to hold on because his legs were so skinny), with endless chores at the break of dawn and he consistently expressed that he did NOT like that at all. Earbin’s mom was always a faithful, dedicated Christian woman who insisted that all her children attend church every Sunday. Earbin eventually accepted the Lord at age 11, but struggled through this stage of his life with his faith and exactly what the benefits were of being a believer. Though Earbin went through a rambunctious stage of dropping out of high school and even running away from home (for a short period of time), he enjoyed the ROTC and decided since he was too stubborn to go home, and he would join the army. Even with a very persistent mother that fought for her son to receive his high school diploma (which he did) , at every step of the way, “Stan” ( a name he was also affectionately known as by his friends) was still stirring up trouble-BUT God was keeping him. Finally he left the Army with an honorable discharge and went back to his home in Fort Worth, TX where his mom gave him an ultimatum of either flying straight or leaving the nest for good. Earbin of course decided to do the latter and start afresh in Houston, TX. While in Houston, he attended a church service one Sunday with his cousin where he was compelled by Pastor Moore (who became his first spiritual mentor) who spoke on the message of purpose. He was so moved by the message, that that very day he re-committed his life to Jesus and turned over a brand new leaf. This “purpose message” pointed him going back to school—a place which was very boring and uninteresting in the past. Be that as it may, Earbin listened to that still voice and enrolled at Texas Southern University in 1983 when he happened to pass a sign that said “Enroll Today!” Once Stan had adjusted into college life at TSU, he began to excel at an amazing rate. Some of the academic staff realized that he had a photographic memory and that science and math were astoundingly simple for him. As a Biology major, he thought was going to go into pharmacy, but then, he felt later that God told him to be become a physician, which was a career choice that Stan never ever would have considered. All through this time since moving to Houston, Earbin helped himself get through school by cooking and becoming an excellent chef at a Country Club. With the help of his parents, family and scholarships, he went on to receive his medical training at the University of Texas in Galveston, got expelled his third year and again God’s favor kept him and he was re-instated. In 1991, he went on from there to train in Family Medicine at Riverside General Hospital located in Riverside California. He then practiced for several years as a family physician. He moved to San Diego where he went on to finish a residency in psychiatry from the University of California at San Diego. After several years of private practice, he moved to Tulsa where he attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma to receive his training for ministry. He then moved back to Texas where he was involved in home meetings, local churches and city wide groups. For the last 17 years of his life beginning in 1999, he has been involved in numerous short term missions of mercy campaigns in various third world countries including: Columbia, Guatemala, Ukraine, Mozambique and Zimbabwe to name a few. His love for widows and orphans became his main concern . He worked with and trained with numerous ministries such as : Heidi & Roland Baker’s Iris Ministries, The Father’s House International, Aslan’s Place , Martin Franken Ministries among others. We believe that God gave him a special anointing for networking people together. If he felt the Holy Spirit moving as he spoke to the broken hearted in his practice of psychiatry, he would pray for them and in some instances offering them either a wholeness track ( which was the healing through prayer) or the traditional track ( which was the medicinal way). He often spoke of how unforgiveness was a stumbling block for many of his patients in emotional pain. Recently, this year, he is having one of his healing prayers that he wrote that is now being translated in Argentina in Spanish for a book that will be published by one of his spiritual mentors. In January 2012, Earbin met and was united in holy matrimony to Phoebe Simpson, in Lake Tahoe, CA. That September of 2012, Dr. Earbin and Phoebe Stanciell got busy and founded First Love Ministries (www.firstlovemin.org) based in The East San Francisco Bay Area eventually moving to Yucaipa, CA in the Inland Empire. This parachurch ministry (meaning that it supports and partners alongside with other ministries) focuses on bringing repentance and forgiveness through the power of the Holy Spirit thus restoring the relationship with God and man. He continued to minister and practice clinically both in the San Francisco Bay area and in the Inland Empire until illness set in. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Phoebe Stanciell, (Yucaipa, CA) son, John Wesley Pittman ;also Julia Stanciell, who preceded him in death; a beautiful step daughter La Prise Williams and two granddaughters Mikaela & McKenna Harris.
