Nicholas MacKenzie beloved son, brother, husband, father, pastor, and friend. Nick was born in South Africa, February 12, 1953. When he was 12 years old, he gave his all to Jesus. He was called to full time ministry when he was a teenager. He was ordained as a pastor in 1976 in the Salvation Army. He married his wife and best friend Mary in 1980. In 1984, he became the director of the South Africa National Sunday School Association and soon after his ordination was recognized by the church of the Nazarene in South Africa. During this time he had three children: Jeremiah, Delene, and Joy. Nick answered a call to the Bloomington Church of the Nazarene in America and arrived with his family on January 1, 1989 to join the pastoral staff. He was the school administrator of Bloomington Christian School (BCS) for fifteen years. He then became elementary principal for nine years and then in his last two years he was BCS pastor. He served as Children's pastor on and off throughout this time and also preached in the evening service for 14 years. He served at Bloomington for 26 years. He became the senior pastor at Palm Springs Church of the Nazarene July 27th, 2014 and preached until the end. Jesus was always the center of everything that he did. He has always had a passion for people especially children. He has given his life to serving others. This one of his many favorite Bible verses, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." -3 John 1:4 In the last 3 months this is the Bible verse that God gave him to strengthen his faith through a very difficult illness, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no one's heart has imagined all the things that God has prepared for those who love him." – I Corinthians 2:9
